An introduction into the Idaho NRA personal protection in the home course
The Idaho NRA personal protection in the home course instructs individuals on gaining knowledge, skills, and the attitude of fundamental safe and efficient use of handguns for protection of family and self, and to instruct individuals on their rights to self defense.
Prerequisite for this course – Any participant should be able to demonstrate basic knowledge, skills, and the proper attitude through an NRA basic pistol course certificate or NRA FIRST steps course certificate.
The Idaho NRA personal protection in the home course is an eight hour intermediate level course. During the course, students will be expected to shoot live rounds of ammunition at a live-fire range. Students will also learn the basic defensive shooting skills, fundamental strategies for home safety, how to respond to confrontation, firearms and gun laws, how to choose an acceptable handgun for self defense, and ongoing opportunities to help develop skills. The Idaho NRA personal protection in the home course covers the NRA guide to basics of personal protection in the home, NRA gun safety rules, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship qualification, and a certificate for course completion.
Firearms and gun laws and the legal aspects of self defense are covered by an attorney licensed to practice law in the state of Idaho.
