The Boise, Idaho NRA personal protection outside the home course teaches participants the basic knowledge, skills, and fundamental attitude of avoiding dangerous confrontations for over all effective, responsible, and safe use of a concealed weapon for self defense outside of the home.
Prerequisite for this course: Knowledge, skills, and fundamental attitude of safe gun handling as outlined in the NRA personal protection in the home course. Students must also have an understanding of the basic legal concepts that relate to the use of firearms during self defense, as well as understand and observe general gun safety rules, and the safety principles surrounding defensive situations. Any participant wishing to take this class can demonstrate the basic knowledge, skills, and necessary attitudes of firearms use and gun safety with a certificate of NRA personal protection in the home course.

The Boise, Idaho NRA personal protection outside the home course is an intermediate level class of 9 hours and an advanced level class of 5 hours. This course teaches essential knowledge, skills, and understanding which needs to be mastered to carry, properly store, and safely use a firearm for effective personal protection outside the home. The Idaho NRA personal protection outside the home course will also cover the NRA guide to personal protection outside the home, NRA gun safety rules, and the appropriate certificates for completion of the course.
